Colour(s) of the Month // Marston & Langinger

Marston & Langinger

This month, because I can’t decide on one (and because I just came across the most amazing range of paints by Marston & Langinger) I’ve decided to feature a collection of colours.

Marston & Langinger are really creators of conservatories, but (luckily for us) have also developed a range of beautiful paints to complement their designs. Their range consists of 84 of the most wonderful colours – and a bit like the Farrow and Ball range – are somewhat fool-proof. Carefully selected to tie in effortlessly with classic English design, the colour range manages to exude a quiet confidence and are at once elegant and yet characterful.

I doubt there could be much to go wrong with selecting any colour from this range – my only advice would be : pick a colour you love at first sight and don’t necessarily dwindle it down to its wishy washy safe-feeling beige or grey version – if you’re drawn to rich colours, go rich! The Marston & Langinger range of bold tones are sumptuous and layered, and would look fabulous against architectural details and English antiques. Some of the deeper tones (Stow Blue and Black Dahlia, for example) are very reminiscent of colours in Le Corbusier’s Claviers de Couleur and to be honest, it’s rare that one sees such immensely deep, beguiling colours in any modern paint range. They are quite extraordinary. Having said that, if the calming shades grab you, then by all means, go ahead. The range provides some delciously soft, muted tones that would work perfectly alongside French antiques, greenery, and gilt mirrors.
